Everyone that’s taken a long haul flight has at some point wished to be given a free upgrade, or maybe you’ve just taken a fair few short haul flights and wished that just one time the air hostess would beckon you to the front into business class. Either way, if you’ve been passed over for an upgrade you know how frustrating it can be – so what is the best way to get an upgrade? Is it really best to ask outright for one or just wait for it to be offered? Asking can’t really hurt, however it can make you seem overbearing and expectant, there are other ways to make it more likely that the airline will say yes if you request a free upgrade, or even offer you one without you asking. These are outlined below.
1. Check in really early or really last minute
It’s risky. Check in early and don’t get offered it and you have to kill time in the airport; check in last minute and miss the flight and you’ll be kicking yourself for being greedy. However; if you check in first and there are upgrades available on the flight they may offer you the upgrades as you’re the first to arrive. If the flight is overbooked and you’re late but there’s room in business class or above then they might let you on there for the same price. However this only works if you haven’t reserved your seat in economy class on the flight already, and the check in desk are feeling generous as they could also just point blank refuse you entry to the plane.

Located on the outskirts of Warsaw, Poland, this magnificent modern dwelling was built to withstand any disaster – and it looks great too. Spanning 6,100 square feet of living space, the home took 4 years to construct, and was built for an owner that wanted nothing but the best when it came to security. As you can see, by day this looks to be nothing more than a streamlined contemporary residence. Lock the doors, batten down the hatches, and you’ve got a completely zombie-proof, concrete constructed fortress. The home’s entryway, gate and even the bedrooms require a keycard to gain access, and high-resolution security cameras let you know exactly what’s going on outside your doors. The super rich can pretty much buy whatever they want. Homes in multiple cities, states, countries, and continents. Insanely expensive cars that cost more than many people's houses and condos. Private planes with interiors that rival the most luxurious hotel suites. Heck, if they really wanted to, and some do, they can buy their own islands (Sir Richard Branson, I'm looking at you). But you really aren't a true billionaire until you've commissioned your very own, very huge, very expensive mega yachts. A yacht that features all the comforts of home and more. Like a helicopter pad and submarines.
These yachts are so lavish, so well equipped, and so expensive that those sailing on them want for nothing. Sure, they can't create peanut M&Ms in the middle of the Indian Ocean if they are all out on the ship, but pretty much anything you want is at your fingertips. And trust me, as soon as the ship is within range, if you really want those peanut M&Ms the helicopter or speed boat attached to the mega yacht can be dispatched to fetch them in no time. More than anything else, the mega yacht is a symbol of power and wealth. It is an ocean faring Ferrari. It is a floating display of the size of your manhood… I mean bank account. Let's take a look at the Top 10 most expensive yachts. They are truly amazing. Full article by celebritynetworth.com
It's definitely not an iPhone — hell, it's not really even a smartphone — but the Tag Heuer Meridiist Infinite Phone has a trick up its sleeve that should be the envy of any mobile device. And what might that be, you ask? An invisible photovoltaic component built into the sapphire crystal screen that produces enough juice to charge the phone, letting it hold its charge in standby mode. If that's not enough for you, it's also built entirely from Grade 5 titanium, carbon, and rubber, and is limited to just 1,911 pieces — since it celebrates the first dashboard chronograph made by the company in, you guessed it, 1911.

If all goes to plan, a stay at the Poseidon will be the holiday of a lifetime for even the most jaded adventure traveler. It will also be a world first if it beats the developers of Hydropolis Underwater Resort in Dubai to the punch. Work on that planned $550 million resort is already underway and is targeted to open around the same time. Travel industry pundits, however, question the feasibility of the 2009 opening dates due to the complexity and scope of construction.
With competition fierce to be the undersea resort originator, it is no surprise that the location of the Poseidon’s Fiji resort is being kept under wraps. According to the developers, the island comprises approximately 225 acres, stretches a mile long and is surrounded by a 5000-acre lagoon with waters that range to 90 feet in depth. It is situated within a coral atoll that was chosen by the developers for its crystal-clear water and unspoiled tropical marine ecosystem.
For those with no inclination of going 40-feet underwater, the Poseidon Undersea Resort will also have 24 over-water villas, or bures as they are called in Fiji, and 24 beachfront bungalows.
NEW DEPTHS OF LUXURY
Each week-long visit to Poseidon includes two nights underwater and four nights in either of the island villas. The oceanic experience will be further enhanced by the option to maneuver a three-passenger Triton submarine. You will also be able to sip a martini underwater while exploring the ocean’s depths in the resort's luxury submarine.
Above water, you can laze by the resort's pool or take to the skies para-sailing. Other facilities include a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts and a health club. The resort features six restaurants and seven bars, an underwater library and lounge, a theater area and a conference room. There will even be an underwater wedding chapel for those keen to say ‘I do’ in the deep blue.
